Linda Ikeji - I Will Get Married Very Soon
Celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji, will be walking down the aisle soon, and this is authoritative!
Independent gathered exclusively that the queen of blogs told a gathering of young school girls in Lagos few days ago that she would be getting married soon.
Her publicist, Santiago Roberts, confirmed to this paper that she did say it at the programme but, according to him, "soon can be anytime".
Prior to now, one of the most asked questions from Ikeji had been when will the 36 years old success story settle down?
Asides this, people who have been observing her successes have pondered on the kind of man she would love to settle down with. A simple young man who would do her bidding without questioning her or a money bag who would make her one of his wives and provide her all the luxuries she had been enjoying prior to the marriage?
Many had pondered on this knowing that she already had all a woman could ask for from houses to cars and even a fat account. In fact, she had outdone several men with her achievements.
During a recent visit to Command Secondary School, Maryland, Ikeja, Lagos, Ikeji who has been on a statewide tour of secondary schools via her #iratherbeselfmade project, revealed that although she is yet to be married she will be doing so soon. Her words “I can tell you that I am not yet married now but will be doing so soon.’’
With the statement, the blogger sparked up speculations and insinuations that she might have found her “Mr Right”, something which seemed to have been eluding her for quite a while.
While her “Mr Right” is yet to be unveiled, those who have been following her have allowed their mind some imagination, as they again ponder about who the person might be, a money bag, a young man or perhaps a foreigner?
Months back, Ikeji, who presently resides in a property estimated to be worth N500 million in upscale Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos shocked men who might have been interested in asking for her hand in marriage when she said, “When I get married I will move to the man’s house as long as it is not a three bedroom flat in Lekki.” For someone who had openly professed that she was ready for marriage, the message sent another signal.
Don’t blame her, as she has reasons for what she said.
Don’t blame her, as she has reasons for what she said.
Hear her: “I am getting quite a lot of proposals. You know people say when a woman is successful, men run away, it’s a lie that is when they chase you the more. But unfortunately, I haven’t seen what I am looking for. To be honest, I keep telling people, it is not like men are scarce. It is the type of man some of us are looking for that is scarce. If I want to marry next year I can, but he would not be the kind of man I want.
I want a man that I can look up to, someone that inspires me, someone that would push me, someone that would motivate me. Somebody that has had some success in his own career path, then I can look up to him and be like wao. A man that teaches me and I can learn from.”
Another quality her future husband must have is to be good in bed. In an earlier interview on her plans for marriage late in 2017 Ikeji had declared: "...He has to be a man that likes sex and must be very good at it”.
Has she dated a man like she described above before? Maybe not.
However, she has been involved with some men in the past including celebrated Nigerian-based American radio presenter Dan Foster. She met Foster in 2001 at her 21st birthday party in Genesis Restaurant and Nite Club on Sanusi Fafunwa Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. He came with fellow radio presenter Olisa Adibua.
Then, they both worked at Cool FM 96.9 Lagos. However, the duo of Ikeji and Foster never started dating until 2005.
Foster is quoted to have said during his relationship with Ikeji he neglected her because he was dating two other women at the same time insinuating that this was what led to the relationship breaking up.
Further, he said that she kept calling him even after he had gotten married. Interestingly, Ikeji has also been quoted as saying that aside the fact that she was not in love with him, Foster lied about his age to her and he couldn’t have been a good in-law, hence their break up.
Reacting to Ikeji getting married soon, her publicist explained that she had made the statement in response to a question from one of the students who wanted to know whether she was married.
“One of the students in Lagos Girls Anglican Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos State, asked if she was married and she told her that she will be getting married soon. It was an answer to a question,” says Roberts.
He said "soon" could be anytime even as he hinted that marriage was not in the young millionaire’s agenda in 2017.
