Operation Crocodile Smile 2 Ends Nationwide
Operation Crocodile Smile
2 has been concluded in all parts of the country and the army is set to return
to its place
The army's exercise tagged Operation Crocodile Smile 2 has ended
in the South-West, South-East and South-South geo-political zones of the
country.
According to the Nigerian Army, the exercise which officially
flagged off at Takwa Bay, Iti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State in 81
Division Areas of Responsibility (AOR) on 6th October, 2017,
was held from 7th
- 28th October, 2017.
The Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Aminu
Iliyasu, said a total of 49 suspects were arrested in 19 separate incidences on
various offences including: cultism, illegal oil bunkering, illegal possession
of arms, narcotic activities and kidnapping.
"A total of 46 illegal oil bunkering camps were discovered across Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom States.
"The
vigilant troops were able to locate and destroy all the illegal refining camps
as well as Cotonou boats and wooden barges loaded with stolen crude and other
illegally refined products.
"The
troops also destroyed illegal oil dump sites", he added.
On
a trip from Badagry, Sources who witnessed Operation Crocodile
Smile 2, reported that vehicles coming from Boarder area were completely
searched before entering Lagos.
However,
the exercise caused some heavy traffic along the highway.
All
passengers were made to alight from their vehicles, searched and sometimes
questioned, before continuing their trip.
