The CAN, Fayose Love Affair

It seems the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has lost it. The body which was revered in the past seems to have allowed itself to become an appendage of some political blocs and have been using their might in a partisan way.

It was not out of place for CAN to congratulate governor Fayose on his decision to run for the presidency come 2019, but the content of their congratulatory message shed more light to where the interest of the body lies.

A letter to the governor dated October 16, 2017, with reference number CAN/GS/IGMAILS/02/017 reads:

“Your Excellency sir, because you are known to doing great in your leadership and that you will move this country forward, the enemies of progress are not happy with your declaration and are not sleeping well. The devil will use many, even those who might be closer to you to try to create lies, false accusation, spread rumours, just to distract people from seeing the good leadership qualities that are in you..." and the ass kissing went on and on.

This is definitely not the CAN of the old days. Fayose was talking about his party PDP and CAN is agreeing. Like a friend said to me, "CAN is missing the 'good old days' when money was pumped to them ceaselessly and can't wait to have those days return." This may not be true, but their statement is shameless, to say the least
